Privacy Policy — Unscroll

Last updated: August 7, 2026 Effective: August 1, 2026

By using Unscroll, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Introduction

Your privacy matters to Unscroll (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you use the app, why we collect it, and what your choices are.

Questions about this policy, or requests to exercise any of the rights described in Section 9, can be sent to: m.bows@outlook.com.

2. What Unscroll is

Unscroll displays the mobile websites of Instagram, TikTok and YouTube inside the app, and hides the parts designed for endless scrolling (Reels, the For You feed, Shorts, and similar surfaces).

You sign in to those platforms directly, on their own pages. Unscroll never receives, sees or stores your Instagram, TikTok or YouTube username or password. Your sessions with those platforms stay on your device.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Account information

Data Why
First and last name Collected if you create an account with email and password. If you sign in with Apple or Google instead, we receive the name attached to that account
Email address To create and identify your account, and to sign you in
Password Only if you create an account with email and password, stored as a cryptographic hash by our authentication provider; we never see or store the password itself
Account creation and last sign-in dates Recorded automatically by the authentication provider

3.2 Information you provide during onboarding

Data Why
Your age To enforce the age floor described in Section 10
Your estimate of how many minutes a day you usually spend on the platform Used as the baseline for the “time saved” figure
Your goal (reading, sleep, sport, family and friends, personal project, or other) Used only to phrase the “time recovered for…” message

3.3 Information generated by using the app

Data Why
Which filters you turn on or off, per platform To apply your settings on every device you sign in from
Each time you open a platform in the app: which platform, the time it was opened, and how long the session lasted To calculate the “time saved” figure
A daily total of minutes per platform Same purpose, in aggregated form
Your current streak and the date you were last active To display the streak counter
Your daily scroll budget, minutes used today, and whether an unlock is active To operate the scroll budget feature
Whether your account has premium access To unlock paid features

3.4 Information stored only on your device, never sent to us

4. What we do not collect

We want to be specific, because many apps in this category collect far more:

One technical detail we want to be transparent about: to hide the parts of a page you asked to hide, Unscroll runs a script inside the Instagram, TikTok or YouTube page. That script necessarily reads the structure of the page while it is displayed on your screen. This happens entirely on your device, in real time. Nothing it reads is stored, logged or transmitted anywhere.

Another one: the camera and microphone permissions. The app asks for camera and microphone access. This exists only so that Instagram’s and TikTok’s own in-page features — Stories, and voice messages in direct messages — work inside our in-app browser, exactly as they would in a normal browser tab. That access goes straight to Instagram or TikTok, the same way it would if you used their own app; we do not use it for our own purposes, and we do not receive, store or transmit anything captured through it. You can review or revoke this permission at any time in your device’s Settings app, and the corresponding feature will simply stop working.

5. Why we process this information, and on what basis

We process the information in Section 3 to provide the service you asked for: displaying filtered versions of those platforms, remembering your settings, and calculating the statistics the app displays.

We rely on your consent, given when you create an account and confirmed by your continued use of the app. You can withdraw it at any time (Section 9).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing purposes.

6. Who your information is shared with

Recipient What they receive Why
Supabase Inc. Everything listed in Section 3.1 to 3.3 They host our database and authentication. Data is stored in the AWS ca-central-1 region (Canada).
Apple Purchase and subscription events; your name and email if you choose “Sign in with Apple” Apple processes payments and tells us whether your subscription is active. If you sign in with your Apple ID, Apple shares the name and email you approve so we can create your account.
Google Nothing of yours - the sign-in request itself carries no personal information from you to Google If you choose “Sign in with Google,” Google shares the name and email you approve so we can create your account. Our use of that information follows Google’s API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
RevenueCat, Inc. Your account identifier and subscription status They manage subscription state on our behalf and tell our server when your subscription starts, renews or ends.

Where your information is stored. Our database is hosted by Supabase Inc. in the AWS ca-central-1 region. Your information is therefore stored in Canada.

Supabase Inc. is nonetheless a company established in the United States, and its personnel may access the infrastructure from outside Canada for operational and support purposes. Your information may to that extent be subject to the laws of another jurisdiction. By using Unscroll you consent to this.

Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. When you use those platforms through Unscroll, you interact with them directly. They collect information about you according to their own privacy policies, which we do not control and which apply independently of this one. Unscroll does not send them any information about you beyond what your own browsing generates.

Two other situations in which information may be disclosed:

Outside of these, we do not disclose your information to anyone.

7. How long we keep it

8. How we protect it

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If a confidentiality incident occurs that presents a real risk of significant harm, we will notify the affected users and any applicable privacy regulator without unreasonable delay, and keep a register of such incidents.

9. Your rights

You may, at any time:

To delete your account, open Settings in the app and tap Delete account. This is immediate and permanent: your account and every record attached to it are erased from our database.

For anything else — access, correction, a copy of your data, or a question — email m.bows@outlook.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom (GDPR)

You additionally have the right to restrict or object to our processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority (for example, your country’s data protection authority, or the UK Information Commissioner’s Office).

Our legal basis for processing is your consent, and, for operating the account you paid for, performance of a contract. We do not process any special category (“sensitive”) personal information, and, as noted in Section 4, we do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling about you.

Because our database and service providers are located or operate outside the EEA and UK, transfers rely on your explicit consent to that transfer, together with any additional safeguards our service providers have in place, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses where their own data processing agreements provide for them.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months.

10. Children

Unscroll is not intended for children under 13, and if you are under 13 you are not permitted to use it. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will delete that account and everything attached to it without delay.

If you are 13 or older but below the digital age of consent where you live — up to 16 in parts of the European Union — you need permission from a parent or guardian to use Unscroll.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact m.bows@outlook.com and we will remove it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that affects how we handle your information, we will notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
